Lake Texoma Fishing Report :: The Metaphysics of Fishing

Posted on February 11, 2014

Some of my greatest passions in life are spirituality, philosophy and fishing, I even enjoy mixing them all together. In doing so, I’m not interested in being right or wrong but simply entertaining my thoughts. Though it may seem like an odd combination, since fishing has a great deal to do with confidence and faith, they blend together quite well. I have had the opportunity of countless hours of observing the nature of what we call luck while out fishing. Any good fishermen knows that knowledge and skill will only take you so far in catching fish and it is most important to be in the right place at the right time or to have “luck”. I love watching the patterns of catching rise and fall like a breath, one moment there is nothing feeding and the next a feeding frenzy arises and fades away again. It changes day to day hour to hour minute to minute. Even the different fishermen in the boat or the different boats on the water will have this fluctuation, one moment one person is on a hot streak while the rest in the boat are watching and the next moment they have gone cold while the others are catching. Sometimes there is a person who can’t seem to catch a fish or someone who catches all the fish. I enjoy watching these patterns rising and falling, moving through like ocean waves of energy.

Science maintains that all matter is energy which can not be created nor destroyed and that matter consists 99.99% empty space. This seems to suggest that what we experience as solid matter is just the illusion of energy vibrating so fast that it appears solid. With this concept everything becomes much more fluid, more ocean like with waves of energy dancing through the pulsation of electromagnetic fields. Science has also determined that our heart generates a powerful electromagnetic field which extends beyond the body for up to a mile or two. They say this field fluctuates with thoughts and emotions, as they change and fluctuate so too does this field take on a different signature pattern. You can watch the invisible pattern of an electromagnetic field come to life at home by introducing a magnet to iron filings. It is beautiful how chaos of the iron filings take on an order and symmetry when bathed in the vibrating energy.

The bible says “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear… But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well;” “Nor will they say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' for the Kingdom of God is within you;" “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them;” “Love never fails”.

What I see in this picture is the heart as a projector dancing through a sea of energy, magnetically attracting the reality which is experienced based on what thoughts and emotions are being chosen. We are asked to rest in Love so that love may be reflected outwardly thereby magnetically imprinting heaven onto earth.

Bringing this back around, when I am out fishing, I make it a practice to continually let go of the attachment to catch fish, putting faith in my efforts, knowing they will prove worthy and that the catching will come when it comes. This allows me to focus on the energetic presence of my thoughts and emotions, on the enjoyment of fishing, the peacefulness of being out on the water and surrendering to let the catching take care of itself. This practice may or may not catch more fish on any given day but certainly provides for a more enjoyable experience for me and hopefully for you as well. I make no claims as of what I see in the nature of reality being right or wrong, I only enjoy painting this picture of words for you to interpret however feels right to you.

As for a report, we’ve been having a cold winter but the times I have been blessed to be out fishing, we have done well. Most trips have decent numbers bringing in a good sized fish here and there. I’ve been sticking to my typical winter pattern throwing sassys into tight schools of fish which are holding to the bottom along structure. We’re in for some warmer weather coming up and it looks like a good time to go out and enjoy being out on the water. We will certainly catch some fish and maybe a big one or two but every day will be different. I practice the gift economy so I have no set rates, we will go out fishing as friends and after the trip you will be free to give in return what feels right to you. I will be equally grateful for whatever you choose to give. You can book your trip online at www.stripersinc.com or give me a call at (903)815-1609.
