Lake Texoma Fishing Report :: Spring Break

Posted on March 23, 2010

We are now into spring on Texoma and we had a great week of fishing over spring break. I’m marking water temperatures around 50-53° and the fish are becoming aggressive. I caught limits of fish on all but 2 of my trips over spring break and we still caught plenty of fish on those trips. All of the fish I’m catching are coming off of lures. I’m using 4-5” glow sassy shad on a 1 oz. -1 ½ oz. head depending on the wind. Most of the fish are stacked on the bottom in 15-25 ft. on the humps and ledges but when they feed late in the evening they will sometimes suspend in 15ft in 35-40 ft of water. Cast against the wind and let it fall to the bottom and almost drag the bottom with it letting the boat pull the lure along as you are slowly reeling. Every so often, let the lure free spool back to the bottom to ensure your still in the strike zone. It is important to experiment with your speed and use a variable retrieve. Reel very slow and speed it up and then slow it way down again.

April, May, and June are some of the best months to fish on Texoma. We should catch a limit on almost every trip during those months. My weekends for April and May are almost gone but I do have a few openings still available. You can check my web site for my availability. If your free during the week, I will normally have at least one week day open at the last minute until school lets out for the summer.  You can book your trip online at www.stripersinc.com or you can call me anytime at (903)815-1609 and I will get you set up. Here are some Pictures from my trips over spring break. I had to cancel my trips for last Saturday and Sunday due to the spring blizzard that occurred.
