Lake Texoma Fishing Report :: December 3 & 4
Posted on December 6, 2010
With December here, it is looking like striper fishing is just now getting hot on Lake Texoma, what we’re accustomed to seeing in October and November but is just now appearing to manifest itself in full force. Sure fishing was good the last couple of months but compared to traditional fishing standards for those months, it fell short of its mark.
Friday morning was one of the best trips I have had this fall. I just had 2 people and only took about 20-30 minutes to put our 20 fish in the boat. Afterwards we switched to throwing sassy shad which were producing fish equally as well as we were hooking them up 3 at a time. We were drifting in 20ft. of water and throwing into the wind, letting it sink to the bottom and slow rolling it back. We probably caught 60+ fish up to 24” before we headed back. Friday evening, I had a catch and release trip. They wanted to use mostly lures so that’s what we did. Fishing was not near as good as that morning but we were still catching our fair share of fish. I fished the same area as that morning and found fish holding on 20ft. creek channels and along points in 8-15ft. The cold front slowed the fishing down a bit for Saturday evening. The fish were scattered out and it was a little to windy to drift as I had been doing. I found fish holding in creek channels and ledges but they would move on me after we caught 2 or 3 fish. After making several anchors we finally managed to put 15 fish in the cooler for the young couple that I was fishing before we ran out of daylight. We would have probably managed to reach a limit but the lady couldn’t get any help from here partner. She caught 14 of our fish while he only brought in 1. Despite the high winds, it was a great evening to be spent out on the big lake.
I have this upcoming Saturday and Sunday still available if anyone is interested in getting in on some of the action. You can book your trip online at www.stripersinc.com or you can call me anytime at (903)815-1609 and I’ll get you set up.
