Lake Texoma Fishing Report :: Lures good on Sat.
Posted on January 17, 2011
After a week of being frozen inside of my house, I was glad to see things finally thaw out a bit and get to go out on a trip on Saturday. I had 3 guys and they wanted to try for some big cats early and switch to lures for striper. The lake was like glass with absolutely no wind. I find bait easily before daylight in the middle of the lake, there were lots of small threadfin with some nice gizzards mixed in. I picked through to keep several good gizzards and we set out around 7:30. I looked around a little and set anchor for some catfish. We wait it about an hour and manage 2 nice smaller cats for the box before we decide to tie on some sassy shad and have a go at the stripers. I found the fish piled up right where I had left them before the front set in the week before. We could catch 1-3 fish every time I pulled up to a school and they would shut down and I would have to move to the next school. We were using 5” glow sassy shad on a 1 ½ oz. head fished in 15-20 ft. of water. We continued this pattern until they were ready to leave around 1:00. We left them biting and headed in to clean fish with 23 fat stripers and 2 cats, which was a pretty good box of fish considering that we had no wind. It was nice to enjoy some warmer weather and good fishing.
The fishing seems to be picking up after getting settled into the winter pattern. Now is the time to come take advantage of my weekday winter special of $100/person (3 person minimum). You can book your trip online at www.stripersinc.com or just give me a call anytime at (903)815-1609.
