Lake Texoma Fishing Report :: Itch to Fish

Posted on September 16, 2013

I would like to offer you a gift of an experience. The experience will be what you make it to be. As the sun breaks through the horizon, will you be left in awe of the beauty? Will the light refracting off the ripples in the water take you to a place beyond words? Will the tug of an ancient fish on your line electrify your soul? How will you choose to experience the journey? I would like to help you to go deeper into it if you would like, to share my peace with you, to be fulfilled by this very breath. Please come, share this experience with me. I ask of nothing in return, only if you feel called to do so, give what feels right to you. So if you have the itch, let there be fish…

Mornings in the 70s certainly give us the itch to catch fish. That's how the past few mornings have been and looking ahead at the forecast it looks like it'll be an ongoing pattern. It's looking like fall might finally be in the sights this time. Whew, and I'm ready for it. These cool mornings get me thinking about pulling out warmer clothes, spending evenings around a camp fire with good friends and most importantly...catching monster Stripers on top water. Hearing the BZZZZZZ!! of line spinning off into the distance as a beauty of a fish speeds away from the boat with your lure planted firmly in his mouth. That's when the fun begins. The first cold snap could be any day but you don't have to wait. These crisp mornings are perfect to head out and hook up with some fish. We've still got a few slots left this week if anyone’s got the itch to fish like we do.
As for the report...we've been catching fish around 30ft of water on flats and ledges. The size of the fish depends on the school you hook into. For the most part they've been in the 3-7 lb range with good box fish thrown in for fair measure. Fall ought to be bringing us into top water season which I'm not going to lie is just one of the most fun times to fish. It’s these times we wait all year for. We will be transitioning into using lures as the seasons change and the fishes preferences change with them so it will be a time for adaptation and adventure and we hope to see you out there with us.
If you are needing a weekend, booking early is very important moving into the fall because the reputation for good fall fishing is out and they book book book fast.
